Atlantic Financial Federal Credit Union Donates Over $9,000 to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of MD

Hunt Valley, MD – Atlantic Financial Federal Credit Union is proud to announce that it donated over $9,000 to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Maryland in 2017.

AFFCU began its commitment to supporting the LLS Light The Night campaign in 2016. The success in 2017 was accomplished through the collective charitable efforts, including our corporate sponsorship, fundraising, member and employee donations. AFFCU’s two year contribution total now stands at over $15,000.

“We are driven to not only serve the members of AFFCU, but the communities that our members and employees live and work in,” said Matthew Piazza, President/CEO of Atlantic Financial Federal Credit Union. “There are a lot of great causes and foundations out there to be a part of. When we were introduced to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society we immediately connected with the impact their advancements, made possible through fundraising efforts like ours, were having on the battle to fight blood cancer. But what really stood out was the impact their research and development was having on advancing the fight against all forms of cancer. It was because of this broad scope and impact that we quickly jumped on board with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Maryland.”

AFFCU employees have embraced the efforts through their own individual fundraising goals as well as workplace donations such as contributing to wear jeans to work. AFFCU members have also shown their support by graciously donating to the credit unions various fundraising efforts.

“The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Maryland Chapter is excited to collaborate with Atlantic Financial Federal Credit Union for our Light the Night Baltimore event,” said Jonathan V. Wilson, Executive Director at The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. “When a loved one hears the words “you have cancer,” it is one of the darkest moments in your life. At Light The Night, it is our aim to bring light to the darkness of cancer through research and cures, and reinforce the urgent need to raise more funds to fight cancer.”

Mr. Piazza stated “We are appreciative to the employees and members who graciously supported our fundraising efforts for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Light The Night campaign. We look forward to another strong year of fundraising and support towards this great cause in 2018 and for many years to come, as we remain part of the fight to end cancer.”
